How does crushing damage work?
I've been printing up all the down loads for Frontiers and found that the spiders and hvy exosuits have the ability to do crushing damage, but how that damage is administered is not fully explained. So could one of you kindly explain how it's administered and what the significance of the number is?
Thank you.

Another Question...
Another question: How is the plasma template used? Does the pointed end of the template start in contact with edge of the firing pawn? like a 40K flamer template?

Re: How does crushing damage work?
It's normally explained on the pdf of the said units (exosuits and spiders), downloadable on the website. Perhaps there was a new version of this document. Check the download page if necessary.the spiders and hvy exosuits have the ability to do crushing damage, but how that damage is administered is not fully explained
Anyway, I paste here the description of the "Crushing" skill :
Crushing Permanent
When you execute a movement, the vehicle can inflict impact damage to a token, component or element that it crosses on its path regardless of the token armor. This does not stop its movement. The force of impact is written inside the symbol.
Concerning the plasma template, you have indeed to use the pointed end of the template start in contact with the edge of the firing token. I'm not sure it was explained anywhere but your 40k example is good. How is the plasma template used?

Re: How does crushing damage work?
Perhaps my question regarding crushing damage requires more explaination... Reading the text again leaves me as confused as before.
So a token able to inflict Crushing damage can move over any other token (unit, terrain element, etc.) and, in doing so, it inflicts damage regardless of the target's defense rating...
-Does this mean that the crushing token moves over the target and simply inflicts a step of damage to the target?
-And how does the force of impact number adjust this? Does the number indicate the steps of damage it inflicts? Example: Adds that many damage tokens to a structure? Forces a round or oval unit to take that many hits worth of damage?
Thanks,

Re: How does crushing damage work?
That can't be as, if I remember well, the Spider, for example, has a damage number of 4, definitly too powerfull even against a vehicule that would be automatically destroyed. It's much more simple. In fact, the rule is always the same :-Does this mean that the crushing token moves over the target and simply inflicts a step of damage to the target? [...]
Does the number indicate the steps of damage it inflicts?
In order to resolve crushing damage, the player rolls the die. He adds the die roll to the bonus indicated on the "Crushing damage" skill symbol. If the result is greater than or equal to the defense value (of any type : body armor, heavy
armor or structure*) of the target unit, the target takes a step of damage.
* That's the biggest (if not the only) difference.
I suggest that you decide with your opponent wich terrain element can be crossed over. Personnally, I don't accept that the Spider can go over building elements. So a token able to inflict Crushing damage can move over any other token (unit, terrain element, etc.)

Re: How does crushing damage work?
I think I've figured out my problem understanding this and some of the other downloadable rules... I didn't understand that the term "strength" in the text translated into the attack's die roll bonus.
This usage is all over the place in the rules for the Red Skulls. Armed with that bit of knowledge, it all has made much more sense.

Sorry, that's the problem when several people work on the translation... and when the guy in charge of the final readingis me...

No worries. Collaboration gets more done quicker, but makes it easier to get things confused.
